School Council

‘Making our School the best it can be – together’

Our School Council has a very important role within school to make sure that all pupils' voices are heard to help make Penbridge the best it can be. Article 12 of the Rights of a Child by the United Nations Conventions into practice says:

“Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account.”

We do this by asking each class to democratically elect a member of their class to represent them. It is their role to then share their class' opinions and ideas within regular class council members. As well as working together within school, the school council also gets the chance to work with other pupil councils from across the city as part of our involvement in PCOPS (Primary Council of Portsmouth Students) as well as across the Trust with regular meetings both online and with other Portsmouth Primary schools.

This year, the Junior School Council have worked on improving lunchtimes and breaktimes and were keen to introduce a buddy bench to ensure that everyone in the school can find someone to play with. Here is our video that we made to launch it to the school. https://canva.link/45eth8zokgw8cly
